"Kite" is a handy man around Shibe Park. He can play the infield and outfield. After breaking in with a .319 mark at Joplin in '47, he moved up to Quincy in '48 where he hit .313 and batted in 99 runs. Keith was with Beaumont in '49 and in '50 and made the Texas League All-Star team The A's drafted him in November of '51 from Kansas City.
Al's contract was purchased in late September from Albany of the Eastern League, a team for which this husky right-hander compiled a brilliant mound record in 1954. His earned run average of 2.07 topped the Eastern loop, his 16 victories were high for the circuit and his four shutouts tied for first place in this department. Al appeared in 37 games, started 24 and completed 14, fanning 153 batsmen. A native of New Orleans who now lives in New York, Schroll attended Tulane University.
The 1909 T206 Set received its name from Jefferson Burdick, author of the American Card Catalog. ‘T’ in the T206 name stood for 20th century tobacco issues while ‘206’ was simply a number assigned to it.
