A broken leg sidelined Roy half of the 1951 season. Never a leading batter, he hits a long ball when it counts as shown by his 85 Runs Batted In and 21 Homers in 1950. Roy is a fine fielder though, and in 1950 led all National League Shortstops in Double Plays, Putouts (332) and Assists (541). A World War II Veteran, he's been with the Cubs since 1948. Before that, he played 5 seasons in the minors. He's a college student during the winter.

Pat, who can hit a long ball, was in 97 games for the Tigers during the course of the 1952 season, hitting .251. He's been in baseball since 1937, played with Beaumont and Lake Charles his first year. Was back with Beaumont the next two, then Buffalo in 1940. Joined the Tigers at end of season and has remained with them ever since, with exception of four seasons spent in service.

Phil joined the Cubs at the end of 1934, his first season in pro ball, and has been with them ever since, becoming their Manager in July of 1951. His greatest year was 1945, when he led the N.L. in Hitting with .355. In '44, Phil hit .321 and had marks of .314 and .311 in '47 and '51. In the '45 World Series, Phil got 11 hits and batted .423.
