Coby accumulated 17 homers, 44 RBI and a 1.026 OPS for Double-A Bowie in 2023 to earn Eastern League Most Valuable Player and Baseball America Double-A All-Star honors. He tore the cover off the ball for Triple-A Norfolk the following season to earn his first promotion to Baltimore. Mayo walked twice and scored a run in his debut game on August 2.



Joe hurled in the Minors in '52 after 5 straight seasons with the A's. His best season in the Majors was '48, when he made the League All-Star team and turned in 14 wins. He had 13-14 record in '49 but won only 1 game the next 2 seasons, while he had a sore arm. Joe broke into pro ball in '41 with Newport News and served in the Navy Air Force for 3 years.



One of the pitching aces of the New York Giants, a right hander, 6 feet tall and weighing around 180 pounds. Signed by the New York Giants after leaving St. Lawrence University in 1931; sent to Bridgeport and Rochester for more experience that year. Won five games and lost six for the Giants in 1932, being used to a large extent as a relief pitcher, One of the Big Four in the Giants' sensational showing in 1933. Born in Hinckley, N. Y. in 1911. Has plenty of smoke on his fast ball.
