Fred Frankhouse was only 16 years old when he signed a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, but it was not until 1927 that he actually started pitching major-league ball, spending 5 years in the minor leagues. He pitched for the Cardinals until the end of the 1930 season, when he joined the Boston Bees, pitching with them until the end of the 1935 season, when he. was traded to the Brooklyn Dodgers for Gene Moore and John Babich. He was traded back to the Boston Bees at the end of last season, with Joseph Stripp, and is proving to be one of the mainstays of the Bees' pitching staff. His 12-year major-league average shows that Fred Frankhouse has pitched 379 games, winning 106 and losing 95, striking out 610 batters.
After 2 years in pro ball, Jim got a brief trial with the White Sox in '50. He was sent to Sacramento (Pacific Coast League), where he hit .310. He batted .304 for Waterloo in '48 and upped it to .318 the next year for the same club. In '51 he was 2nd in the American League in Stolen Bases with 26. Jim attended Texas Christian University on a football scholarship before playing pro ball. An Army Veteran, he was traded to the Senators in May, 1952.
