As a rookie in 1961, Dean pitched two shut-outs over the Minnesota Twins. His first victory was an 11-inning 1-0 duel and then he followed it up with a one-hitter.
George, who was the batting champion of the American League in 1949, was the runnerup in 1950. Batted .340. Had the most hits in the League (218), most doubles (56), most at bats (641). Also was the AL's top fielding third baseman with a .982 percentage. In 510 chances he made only 9 errors. His first full season in majors was with A's, 1944. Traded to Detroit, 1946.
