An outstanding athlete in high school, Gene first signed with the Dodgers. Led NW loop in Strikeouts & Complete Games in 1963. Used as a starter and reliever.
Pitched much better in 1950 than his 3-9 record would indicate. Ken was really a hard-luck hurler. In 1949, he had a 17-10 record. Tossed 5 shutouts, and had season's longest winning streak at 9 games. Voted Philadelphia's most valuable player for the year. In Ken's first start in 1951 he lost a tough contest to Boston, 2-1. But he snapped quickly back with a 2-1 victory over the N.Y. Giants.
Selected from the Boston Red Sox organization in 1962, Glenn has become a pleasant surprise for Chicago. The flashy fielding second sacker led the Pacific Coast League with 253 putouts and 112 double plays in 1964. Glenn impressed everyone in spring training and was awarded the starting job at second base. He played in all but 8 games for Chicago last season. The Cubs feel that with a year of experience under his belt, Glenn is on his way.
