The American League's Most Valuable Player in 1965, it is doubtful that the Twins would have won the pennant without Zoilo. The small shortstop has played in two All-Star games.
Frank Conrad Baumholtz nicknamed "Frankie", of German ancestry, attended Ohio University 1937-41. Started his professional career by playing basketball with the Cleveland Rebels of B.A.A. Came up with Cincinnati 1947, traded to Chicago 1949 with Hank Sauer.
Playing for the White Sox in '52, Bill appeared in more games than any other pitcher in the American League. He's been in pro ball since '39. After coming out of the Service in '46 Bill had a great season at Rocky Mount where he won 28, lost 3 and led the League with 456 Strikeouts and a 1.08 ERA. He had a 15-2 record for Scranton in '47. He pitched for the Browns in 1948-49-50. Bill was traded to the Red Sox in February, 1953.
