He got off to a torrid start and never let up, and that landed Rodriguez on an elite list of greats. The superstar shortstop racked up 1,354 knocks through his age-26 season (2002), good for fourth among all batters who wound up with more than 3,000 hits. Only Ty Cobb (1,600), Al Kaline (1,390) and Robin Yount (1,363) had more by that age.
When healthy, Fernando is one of the most feared hitters in Baseball. In a 162-game span through 2021, his OPS of .940 ranked in the MLB top 10.
