In both the 1957 and '58 Series, Don was called in to help the Braves in three games. During the regular season he was Milwaukee's top fireman and posted their best pitching average.
This is "Dolly" Stark's thirteenth season as a National League umpire. "Dolly" was a protege of Bill Klem and has proved himself one of the most able arbiters in the league. Never a major league player, Stark became an umpire quite by accident. He was asked to fill in as an umpire in a college game at Vermont, and did so capable a job, he was induced to take it up as a career. He was voted the most popular umpire in the league several years ago. Besides umpiring, "Dolly" has done radio broadcasting, and was basketball coach at Dartmouth for many years.
