Has played every infield position but first. In organized baseball since 1932 he's been with the New York Giants, Boston Braves, Philadelphia Athletics and the Detroit Tigers since 1944. He led AL third basemen in fielding in 1943 with the A's, and second basemen in 1945, with the Tigers. With the Tigers in 1945 he tied World's Series record for most times at bat in a game with 6.
In general, Piedmont and Sweet Caporal card backs are the easiest to find in the 1909 T206 Set.
Has been in Yankee organization since 1943. Last season with Kansas City he hit .294 in 145 games, and had 13 homers, 30 doubles and 87 RBI. Went from high school to Butler and Wellsville in 1943, then two years of service. With Binghamton and Amsterdam in 1946 and Binghamton and Kansas City in 1947. In first month of 1949 season he was hitting .338 for Yanks.
