"Mr. Chips" has been in organized baseball since '39 when he broke in with Atlanta of the Southern Association. He had a good season with Savannah in '40 when he topped the Sally League with a 17-5 record. Bob hurled for the Dodgers parts of the '41, '42, and '43 seasons and was traded to the Cubs for Eddy Stanky in '44. The Cubs sold him to the Braves in '50 and he had a 7-7 record for them that year. Bob is used mostly in relief.
Picked right from the campus at Loyola of Los Angeles College, Joe was paid a handsome bonus to sign with the Giants. In High School, he starred at St. Anthony's in Long Beach, California, winning varsity letters in Baseball, Basketball and Football. Although his baseball career takes up most of his time, Joe is going to college in the off-season.
