The 1st pitcher to ever hit a Grand-Slam Homer in World Series when he turned trick in 1970 Classic, Dave tied for major lea. lead in Wins, 1970. Won one AL Playoff game & one World Series game.
Claude Hendrix, pitcher of the Chicago Federal League team, was born in Olathe, Kan., April 13, 1889. He began his career as a professional ball player in 1908 with the Lincoln Western League Club. Lack of experience prevented his gaining a permanent position, and for the next two years he played with various teams in Kansas and Nebraska. He was tried out by the Pittsburgh Nationals in 1910, and made good with that team. Hendrix signed with the Chicago Federals late in 1913.
Bobby was brought up to the Dodgers after being named the International League's Most Valuable Player and topping the league in Hitting with a .337 average for Montreal in '49. He played in 67 games for the Brooks in '50 and was sent down to Montreal again in '51 for more experience. Bobby broke into pro ball with Newport News in '44 and spent the '45 and '46 seasons in Military Service.
