Name that player!

"Windy" was called upon to bolster the Giants' bull pen crew last year and came through in fine style. A veteran of 9 Baseball Campaigns, he harnessed the wildness that hampered him in the Minors to earn a berth on the World Champions. In '53 at San Francisco, "Windy" chalked up a 12-7 record with a 3.05 ERA although he was out of action many weeks.

Charlie Keller did not hit as often last year as he did in 1939 when he was the most sensational rookie in the American League, but he wielded a heavier bat for the New York Yankees. Keller fell to .286 against his .334 of the previous year but he drove in 93 runs, hit 21 homers and highlighted his season with three home runs in one game on July 28th. The University of Maryland grad looms as one of the strongest points in the Yankee campaign to regain their world laurels this year.

Newt got his nickname because of his striking resemblance to Mickey Cochrane. He played his first pro ball game for Trenton in '41. During the war, Mickey was captured by the Germans and had to make a remarkable comeback in weight and health to resume his baseball career. The Giants brought him up for short time in '46 and after Mickey led the PCL in Assists at Seatle in '49, the Senators drafted him. He hit .287 in '50.
