Chuck has hit over .300 in the Minors 5 straight years. At Olean in '50 he led the Pony League in Hits (206), Doubles Bats Right (47) and RBI's (139) while batting .374. Chuck also topped the Three I loop in Hits (153), Doubles (34) and Stolen Bases (43) with a .319 mark at Burlington in '52. In 1949 at Olean he hit .351 and .375 in 1951 with 143 RBI's.
Art began 1953 with Detroit, his only previous major league team, then was traded to Cleveland. He had a 9-13 record for the season. A great young pitcher, with lots of stuff and a fast ball, and if he regains his stride, will be a tremendous help to the Indians. He's had more than his share of tough luck. Suffered a badly fractured skull in an automobile accident during training one year, but recovered to pitch brilliantly. Spent 1951 in Army.
