One of the finest all around athletes in Baseball, "Chuck" was a champ in Basketball before turning to the diamond sport. As a top cage star at Toledo University, he led his team to the National Invitation Tournament in '43. "Chuck" started pounding the ball in the Minors and from '49 to '53 never hit under .311. "Chuck" is one of the fastest men in the League.
Even though he did not bit for a high average in '93, Todd showed significant improvement in just about every one of his offensive statistics. He had career-highs in BA, runs, bits, triples, home runs and RBIs. In April, Todd smashed three home runs in three successive days. Then, in September Todd smacked his first grand slam and drove in five runs against the Cubs in an 8-3 victory. Todd, who is only 24, is an exceptional defensive catcher with a strong, accurate arm.
One of the most consistent outfielders in the American League. Bob Johnson has upheld a mark of 20 or more home runs a year since he joined Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics in 1933. The fleet outer-gardener hit 31 four-baggers last year and drove in 103 runs to make it six years in a row that he has sent across 100 or more runs. Bob's lifetime batting average with the A's is .302, and his home run total, 217.
