Gil has a most unorthodox batting stance, holding his bat as if it were too heavy for him. It works, though, because he's a dangerous hitter. He was the Rookie of the Year in 1951. Gil hit a grand slam homer at the Polo Grounds in the World Series against the Giants that year, becoming the first rookie ever to perform the feat, and only the third player in baseball to do it during a Series. He is a good fielder, too.
Bill Davis: Bill looks like he's ready for the big leagues. He batted .311 and smacked 33 HRS at Portland in 1965. Tom Kelly: Tom was one of Portland's leading pitchers last year. The fire- balling righthander won 16 and posted a 2.38 ERA.
