Did a good job receiving for the 1950 Senators. In 75 games. Hit .287. Drove in 22 runs. Started out as pitcher. Switched to catching on advice of Hans Lobert when trying out with Giants in 1939. Not actually in organized ball however, until 1941. Homered for Trenton first time at plate. In Infantry, 1942-45. Taken prisoner in North Africa. Played for Seattle on return. Drafted by Senators.



Hit stride at plate last season after two so-so years. Averaged .329 on 174 safeties and drove in 74 runs. This made him 4th top hitter in American league. Fast with good throwing arm. Deadly on fly balls over his head.



Vic learned to hit high fast balls and became the top K.C. batter in '55. Switched to 1st base from the outfield, he led the A.L. in D.P., putouts and assists. No sophomore jinx for Vic. He raised his B.A. 64 pts. over his '54 mark.
