Vincent Campbell, outfielder of Indianapolis Federals, was born at St. Louis, Mo., January 30, 1888, and first attracted attention as a catcher at Vanderbilt University. He joined the Chicago National League Club after graduation in 1908. He was sold to the Decatur Club that fall, but the sale was set aside by the National Commission and he became a free agent, joining the Aberdeen Club, of the Northwestern League, where he started playing the outfield. He was purchased by Pittsburgh in the fall of 1909 and played wonderful ball in 1910, but retired at the end of the year. In 1912 he came back with Boston, but quit again in the middle of the 1913 season. He returned to the game again in 1914 as a member of the Indianapolis Federals and is still a member of that team.
