Coffee Talk Name that player!
"Bud" Thomas came to the attention of major league scouts in 1932 when he pitched his team to the senior amateur championship of Washington. He became the property of the Washington Senators but they shipped him out first to Youngstown, then to Chattanooga. Landing with Atlanta in 1935, he won 20 games, and 18 the next year. Connie Mack bought him for the A's in 1937. Thomas was traded to the Tigers early last year and hurling mostly in relief roles chalked up seven victories without a defeat. Control is one of Thomas' main assets. In 33 games and a total of 60 innings of pitching, Thomas issued only 23 bases on balls last year.
Some cards from the 1909 T206 Set have been hoarded by collectors (i.e. Shag Shaughnessy and John Titus), making their cards a little harder to find.
