After two consecutive seasons of batting .330 for Tulsa, Walt was brought up to the Chicago White Sox. Though just 5'6", Walt has hit better than 300 for four minor league clubs since beginning his career in 1963. Ed was optioned by the Chisox to Indianapolis in the P.C.L. in May of 1967. Last year, the outfielder batted .309 there. He had his finest minor league campaign at Tidewater in 1965 where he hit .341.



Not on Dodgers' roster when spring training began. But has done some good relief chucking since decision was made to carry him. At the end of May his record was 4-3. He began in 1944 with Richmond, and at the end of the season came up to the Dodgers, for whom he won 2 and lost 1. With Dodgers in 1945, 1947, and part of 1948. With Montreal 1949-50. Went 17-7 in '49 and 13-8 in '50.



Doug is not overpowering, but he keeps the ball low, hits spots, is fough in the clutch and features three different types of curveballs. The 1990 NL Cy Young Award winner when he had 22 victories, he ranked third in ERA in the league in '94.
