Formerly the property of the Red Sox, the Tigers acquired Ben during the November draft. He pitched for Louisville in 1954 where he had an 11-12 record and a 3.57 earned run average. Ben played Legion ball then attended Atlantic Christian college and turned pro in 1945 with Roanoke, Va. Bennett won 17 games for Scranton in 1951. The Tigers like his chances.



After two stellar seasons, Steve had arm trouble in '68 and it curtailed his activity. The hard-throwing righthander fired six shutouts back in 1967.



Originally signed by the Milwaukee Braves, Bruce was drafted from their Denver farm club by the Los Angeles Dodgers, The Minnesota Twins selected the catcher from the Dodgers' farm chain in November of 1967. Last year, Bruce was the best hitting rookie on the Minnesota roster.
