Blazin' Bob will be wearing a Yankee uniform this season after enjoying a sensational year at Baltimore in '54. One of the most talked-about newcomers, he has a bullet-like fast ball that helped him rank as No. 1 Strikeout artist in the A.L. last year. Bob joined the Browns in '51 and after two years in the Army, he returned to register 61 Strikeouts in only 61 innings in '53.

Gene had his best major league season for the Yankees during 1952. His fielding percentage of .996 was best in the League for outfielders who appeared in 100 or more games. Gene began in baseball in 1940 and first came to the majors with the Cleveland Indians at the end of the 1943 season. Joined the Yanks in 1949 after batting .385 to lead the Pacific Coast League in 1948.

My Biggest Thrill In Baseball by Al Kaline. Playing opening day in Detroit I think will always be my greatest thrill in baseball. I know I will always remember playing in front of all those people, and all of them were cheering for our team. We were play- ing Baltimore, and we won the game 3-0. My childhood hero, incidentally, was Ted Williams, and I think he's the greatest hitter I've ever seen.
