Hischier matched a career high in assists in a single game when he dealt out a helper in each period of New Jersey's home contest versus the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 21, 2022, as the Devils went on to a 5-2 victory.

A finesse defenseman who has been compared to Paul Coffey by some scouts, Scott Niedermayer was the third player chosen overall and the first by New Jersey in 1991. Niedermayer was second among Kamloops defensemen in scoring last season and was named to the WHL West first All-Star team and selected as 1991 Canadian Major Junior Scholastic Player of the Year. After starting the 1991-92 season with the Devils, he was returned to Kamloops in November.
