Once before, the NHL had a brilliant center of French extraction whose nickname was "Pit" and that was Pit Lepine of the Canadiens. The Red Wing youngster's given first name is Hubert, but it's seldom used. Pit showed great promise as a rookie last season.
Pete's a rough-and-tumble backliner acquired late in 1957-58 from Cleveland in swap for Bucky Hollingworth. The Barons had signed him off a Michigan club in Sault Sainte Marie. Could make it big if he avoids needless penalties.
Two seasons ago, Parker developed into a sudden sensation, scoring 33 goals, after years as a journeyman forward. Started slowly last season but came on to pick up 21 more goals. Parker proved to be a slick wing mate for Gordie Howe's set-ups.
