Patriots Card of the Day

Troy Brown
One of the league's top return men, Troy continued to impress in 2000. He finished third in the NFL in punt return yards, including the first touchdown of his career. But returns were only half of the story for Brown last season. He also led the Patriots in receptions and all-purpose yards, and finished ninth in the AFC in catches.

Name that player!

Rock-um sock-um and as tough as they come, Charlie had a string of 80 consecutive football games until an ankle injury caused him to miss an exhibition game in the summer of 1963. Charlie was originally a tackle but was converted to guard.

Tom is an original member of the Patriots' devastating linebackers, having joined the club in 1960. A great competitor, Tom never relaxes as he goes after the enemy blockers. The big linebacker was named on the A.F.L.'s first All-League team and has since appeared there regularly. Tom captained his high school club and was All-Atlantic Coast Conference in college.

Zappe transferred to Western Kentucky for a chance to throw the ball, and the Victoria, Texas, product took advantage of it. In the Hilltoppers' all-field attacking air scheme, he broke the FBS records for yards and TD passes in a season. "It's been the best decision of my life," the signal-caller said.

Back to the Front! Patriots card back du jour...

Houston Antwine
Houston got his big chance in 1962 when one of the regulars in the Patriots' defensive line. up was injured. From that time on, "Ol Hous' has developed into one of the league's top defensive tackles. It seems this boy from Memphis is only hap py when he is in the opposing backfield. The feeling around the league is that Houston will be around for a long time to come.
