Patriots Card of the Day

Tom Brady
He played in the shadow of Brian Griese at Michigan and appeared destined for a similar role behind Drew Bledsoe in New England, as Tom arrived at the 2001 training camp as the third QB on the depth chart. Yet by the time the season ended, he was one of the top passers in the NFL. Taking over for an injured Bledsoe early in the year, Brady's quick feet and accurate arm led the Pats to Super Bowl XXXVI. He then was named the game's Most Valuable Player after leading his charges to a game-winning drive (with no time-outs) in the final minute.

Name that player!

One of the pro world's top ball han- dlers, Babe's best year was in 1964 when he threw for 31 TDs & 3,441 yards. The Patriots have turned down tempting trade bids for this exceptional quarterback.

Quick reflexes and good balance enable this young man to excel at his position. Ron led the Boston club in pass interceptions last season. He grabbed off a total of four and batted down several dozen more enemy tosses.

Larry is another member of the Patriots that came from Boston College. At the close of his second year in the American Football League, he was named to the AFL All-League team and he went on to play a key role in the All-Star game. Originally a defensive right end, he has switched to the left side now. At college, Larry starred as a two-way end and later he became a tackle.

He went on to score 14 points in the Patriots' 26 to 8 victory in the Eastern Division playoff game. Beginning his career as a quarterback, Gino starred as a signal-caller in college and in the Army. Boston coach Mike Holovak convinced Gino to become an end in 1961.
