Ravens Card of the Day

Derrick Alexander
Tall and rangy, Derrick is an excellent athlete who has quick feet, sizzling 4.4 speed and a burst out of his cuts. In addition, he makes a big target, has sure hands, makes the tough catch in traffic and runs well in the open field. All of these sterling qualities made Derrick an NFL All-Rookie in '94 as he led the Browns in receptions and receiving yardage. In '95, he ran a punt back 69 yards for a TD against the Bills.

Name that player!

October 20, 2002: Weekly Wrap Up: Count QB Marc Bulger as among those who think Faulk belongs in the Hall of Fame. "They should put him in already the first active player," Bulger said after Faulk ran for 183 yards and scored four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) as the Rams beat Seattle, 37-20, on October 20. "He's like Superman out there. I'm just glad he's on our side."

Lewis didn't hesitate to intimidate opposing quarterbacks once he made his way into the backfield. "Every time Ray Lewis hit me, he'd drive me into the ground and then he'd use me to help himself get up," Peyton Manning said on ESPN. "And he'd whisper in my ear, 'I'll be back in a couple minutes, you punk.""

Some backs had bigger college numbers, but Jamal showed all the tools to be an NFL star. One of the nation's top frosh in 1997, his sophomore season was cut short by a knee injury. The Ravens, however, saw enough of Lewis in '99 to be convinced that he was fully healthy, using the No. 5 overall draft pick to make him the first back chosen. "Jamal is a rarity in that he combines sheer size, power and incredible speed," coach Brian Billick said.

Back to the Front! Ravens card back du jour...

Mark Ingram, II
Baltimore wanted to add a quick-footed ball-carrier to complement superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson. It found Ingram, an uber-agile tailback who breaks down opponents with a shifty set of moves. In 2019, he topped 1,000 rushing yards for the third time in his career.
