October 20, 2002: Weekly Wrap Up: Count QB Marc Bulger as among those who think Faulk belongs in the Hall of Fame. "They should put him in already the first active player," Bulger said after Faulk ran for 183 yards and scored four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) as the Rams beat Seattle, 37-20, on October 20. "He's like Superman out there. I'm just glad he's on our side."
Lewis didn't hesitate to intimidate opposing quarterbacks once he made his way into the backfield. "Every time Ray Lewis hit me, he'd drive me into the ground and then he'd use me to help himself get up," Peyton Manning said on ESPN. "And he'd whisper in my ear, 'I'll be back in a couple minutes, you punk.""
Some backs had bigger college numbers, but Jamal showed all the tools to be an NFL star. One of the nation's top frosh in 1997, his sophomore season was cut short by a knee injury. The Ravens, however, saw enough of Lewis in '99 to be convinced that he was fully healthy, using the No. 5 overall draft pick to make him the first back chosen. "Jamal is a rarity in that he combines sheer size, power and incredible speed," coach Brian Billick said.
