Steelers Card of the Day

Plaxico Burress
November 10, 2002: Weekly Wrap Up: Teaming brilliantly with quarterback Tommy Maddox, Burress caught nine passes for a Steelers-record 253 yards in Pittsburgh's dramatic 34-34 tie with Atlanta on November 10. He snared TD passes of 62 and 33 yards, and came just short of a third score on the final play of overtime when his sprawling 50-yard catch ended up one yard shy of paydirt.

Name that player!

Art is starting his second year in the League. Last year he played mostly on defense where he intercepted 5 of the opponents' passes, returning them for a total of 83 yards. He was a two-way performer at Georgia playing offensive and defensive end as well as defensive halfback, safety, and backing up the line. Voted outstanding defensive player in the Blue-Gray game.

The Steelers surprised everyone when they made Gary their No. 1 draft choice a couple of years ago. They wanted him for his pass defending talents - and they weren't wrong. Gary does a good job covering receivers downfield and batting down passes. He's seldom faked out by the shifty NFL pass catchers and even the veterans marvel at Gary's football savvy.

"Mighty Mo" played fullback for Maryland. In every game he outgained all his opposition combined in total yardage. Everybody's All-American. Outstanding player in Sugar Bowl. Student in off-season. Goes pro in 1952.
