Name that player!

Norman, who was NFL passing champion in 1950, was nosed out for that honor in 1951 by his teammate, Bob Waterfield, in a very close race. Entered pro football in 1949 from Oregon where he starred in passing and punting.

Rookie with the Rams in 1950: Scored 4 touchdowns passing. Lettered in football, basketball and track in high school. Played football at Riverside Junior College, Compton Junior College and Loyola. Member of the first Little Rose Bowl team. All-Southern California end. Little All-American honorable mention. Won NCAA 100-yard dash in 1950. Bob holds a school record of 9.5 in this event.

One of the Rams' Fearsome Foursome, Merlin came into his own in a hurry. As a rookie, this immense defensive tackle made the Pro Bowl and he hasn't missed one since! Merlin was drafted #1 by L.A. in 1962 after being named to every All-American team for his line play at Utah State.
