Named to All-Atlantic Coast Conference 2nd Team during sophomore & junior seasons at Virginia. Drafted: #2-1974 by Carolina.
The 1973-74 season was shortened for Billy by an injury but he expects to be in peak condition this year. He was the ABA Player of the Year & MVP in 1972-73 when he led the league with a record 216 steals.
Gene earned All-Rookie Second Team honors after his initial ABA campaign. He has a career point high of 34, he's possessed with a fine shooting touch from the floor and is a fine playmaker. Gene played AAU ball prior to achieving NAIA All-American status 3 times at High Point College.
