Name that player!
From the start, Squires' Coach Al Bianchi has been impressed with Mike. "A lot of what Mike does is not reflected in the box score. Even some of our veterans have told me, This guy can play.' He has produced much more than we had hoped for." One of the ABA's finest rookies of 1972-73, Mike signed his Squires con tract the day he received it in the mail.
The only unanimous choice to the ABA All-Defensive Squad for 1972-73, Roland hasn't been chubby since his childhood but still answers as readily to "Fatty" as he does to Roland. He tries to pick his spots for a steal. He doesn't go after the ball all the time but when the opponents relax against him, he jumps in and strips them of the ball.
Having seen only brief action with the Detroit Pistons in 1967-68, George joined the Washington Capitols after a military hitch. Playing behind Rick Barry, he had a chance at a starting role when Rick suffered his second knee injury. George responded impressively and quickly, with a 24-point performance against the New Orleans Buccaneers in his first start.
