Monte Morris
A new team meant a new role for Morris in 2022-23. "I'm excited to finally just get my opportunity to play more extended minutes and actually show the world more of what I'm capable of," he told NBC Sports. Avdija's father, Zufer, steered him away from his first love, soccer, and toward the hardwood when the kiddo was 9 years old. "I wasn't tall," he told the Washington Post. Courtney didn't receive even one of the 124 possible votes for 2001 NBA Rookie of the Year, yet no NBA frosh had a stronger finish. After scoring just 4.2 PPG with Dallas, Alexander was shipped to Washington, where he drained 17.0 PPG in 27 games. He even was named NBA Rookie of the Month for April, when he averaged 22.4 PPG. "I feel I can bring so much to the table," he says. "but at the same time I don't want to overshadow anyone or disrupt the team's chemistry." The only chemistry he disrupted on April 18 was the Toronto Raptors', as he ripped Vince Carter & Co. with a career-high 33 points.
