Kobe Bryant once called Robert the "smartest teammate I ever had." After seven years with L.A., Horry took his hardwood I.Q. to San Antonio in 2003-04, where his fundamental soundness played perfectly.
Tim might be a silent superstar, but one honor speaks loudly: In 2003-04, he was co-winner (with David Robinson) of Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year award. The Admiral calls Duncan "one of the smartest basketball players I've ever seen," and teammates and foes alike are unanimous in praise of his character.
After sitting out the previous two years because of a Navy commitment, David's first NBA Season was, by all accounts, awesome. Robinson captured the NBA rookie-of-the-year award in 1990 by leading the Spurs in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots. David finished 10th in the leaque in scoring, second in rebounding and third in blocked shots. David captured the Wooden Award as college basketball's player-of-the-year in 1987, and was the first player to total 2,500 points and 1,300 rebounds.
