Mel was Pacers' leading scorer and rebounder in 1971-72, his 16.4 average rebounds per game was 2nd in ABA to Artis Gilmore. He was only player to make All-ABA 1st team in 1st 4 years. Has great jump shot.

Jalen rarely starts, but coach Larry Bird deploys him like a surgical missile, utilizing his size and athleticism at a variety of positions as the situation demands. Despite only bench minutes, he ranked among Pacers leaders in points, steals and assists. On April 16, Rose blitzed the 76ers for a career-high 28 points (10/13 FG), plus seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
