After a slow start when used as the club's fourth guard, Fred became the spark that ignited the Bullets through the last month of the 1969-70 season and through 1970-71. Fred originally impressed Coach Gene Shue with his scoring ability through training camp and exhibition games in his rookie season, but defense has become the most outstanding part of his game.

"The General" showed promise in his rookie season... Twin brother of Horace Grant, Chicago's starting power forward... Good shooter... Third on team in blocked shots... Played on 1988 Sooners team that reached the NCAA Championship game... First team all-Big Eight and third team all-America in 1988.
