Warriors Card of the Day

Golden State Warriors, Golden State Warriors
The first-ever champions of the NBA (1947), the Philadelphia Warriors maintained their winning ways when they switched cities and conferences, becoming the Western Conference's San Francisco Warriors in 1962. 1971 brought a move across the bay to Oakland, where as the Golden State Warriors, the team won the 1975 NBA Championship. DID YOU KNOW? The Warriors are the only NBA franchise with more scoring titles (12) than Michael Jordan. In his first full season as head coach (1970-71), Alvin Attles always knew he had someone he could trust on the bench - he also appeared in 34 games as a player. SCORECARD. On February 15, 1989, the Warriors swiped 25 balls from the San Antonio Spurs, equalling the NBA record for steals in a game set by the Warriors on March 25, 1975.

Name that player!

A giant among giants, Wilt the Stilt is almost impossible to be stopped around the basket. He leaps high and stuffs the ball in with nonchalant grace. He grabs rebounds from heights high above the heads of the other fellows. He dunks field goals with two hands and pulls off rebounds with one. Given any daylight, he will swoop into the goal with one giant stride and roll the ball down his expansive palm just inside the front lip of the goal. His stamina is amazing. A defensive stalwart, he blocks shots repeatedly. Here, enjoying the game, he dunks in a 2-pointer.

With home-court advantage already well in hand, Thompson didn't let up late in the 2014-15 regular season. When Memphis visited Oracle Arena for an April 13 game, Thompson lit up the Grizzlies for 42 points on 15-of-20 shooting. He connected on 8-of-10 3-pointers as the Warriors took a 111-107 win.

One of the NBA's finest rookies of the 1976-77 campaign, Robert was selected to the league's All-Rookie Second Team as the center. The eighth player chosen in the 1976 NBA College Draft, he has good hands and handles the inside pass well from a penetrating teammate. Robert was a Sporting News All-American choice in 1975.

Tim Hardaway
This little big man was one of three players to average double digits in assists in 1991-92. Hardaway almost became the fifth player in NBA history to finish among the league's top 10 in scoring (22.9 PPG, 11th), assists (9.7 APG, 5th), and steals (2.6 SPG, 4th) in 1990-91.
