Acquired from Chicago in exchange for a 1989 first round draft pick 6/26/89... Led Bulls in blocked shots with 69, a career high, and was second on team in free throw percentage last season... Started college career at Wisconsin, but transferred to Ohio State after sophomore year... Most valuable player of 1986 NIT.
Payton has improved his scoring average each season since his rookie year. Despite a lean body at 6-4 and 190 lbs, he has established himself as a tough defender and team leader through his play on the hardwood.
Bruce's speed and shooting touch helped him to blend quickly into the Supersonics' style of play upon joining club in 1975. His first season at Seattle saw him in a starting role and he turned in a number of credible performances for the club during campaign.
