Knicks Card of the Day

John Starks
One of the most-animated players in the NBA, New York's John Starks makes his presence known on the court. Although dubbed as offensive-minded, Starks, who was never drafted, earned his spot in the league with outstanding defense. Small in comparison to many of his opponents, the 6-5 guard takes on any challenge with eagerness.

Name that player!

Moved back to his natural center spot, Willis became a top candidate for Most Valuable Player honors. He averaged 21.1 pts., was the league's No. 3 field goal shooter (52.1%) and No. 7 rebounder (1,191).

The NBA's Most Valuable Player in 1969-70, Willis led the Knicks to their first world title last season. He has been an NBA All-Star each of his six seasons in the league and is the only player ever to have been selected at both forward and center. Willis has averaged 24.2 points in playoff competition.

In his first season with Knicks, Bud scored 401 points, in spite of fact that he didn't join team until December. He's rated as best basketball player ever developed at Princeton. In 1943 he led Eastern Intercollegiate League in scoring with 170 points in 12 games and was named to All-League first five. His 73 field goals that season were most ever made in that old circuit. While he was in training he played with the Chapel Hill, N. C. Cloudbusters and led team in scoring.

Back to the Front! Knicks card back du jour...

Dick Barnett
The "old man" of the Knicks at 33, Dick is still a consistent, deadly left-handed jump-shooter. His 17.6 average was barely above his 17.4 career mark and he hit at a 16.7 pace in the post-season playoffs.
