After Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu went No. 1 overall to New York, Sabally headed to Dallas as the second selection. The forward averaged 16.2 points and 6.9 rebounds during her final season with the Ducks.

For the first time since she was in high school, Samuelson will be teammates with her sister, Karlie. The reunion happened when Dallas acquired Katie Lou in a trade with Chicago in February 2020. Following an accolade-laden career at the University of Oregon, Sabally leaped to the WNBA as she became the second overall pick and joined Dallas. In her debut in the 2020 season opener against Atlanta, the forward proved she belonged on the professional stage by posting 11 points to go with five boards and five helpers.
