George (Snuffy) Stirnweiss
From 1942 (first year in the majors) until 1950, "Snuffy" Stirnweiss was with the Yankees. He began the season with the New Yorkers, but, after 7 games, was traded to St. Louis. In 93 games for the Brownies. Batting average for both clubs, .216. Led League in batting and 6 other depts., 1945. "Snuffy" was traded from the Browns to the Indians just as this card was going to press.

Made 32 mound appearances in 1950. Won 7 games, lost 5. Began in organized baseball with Butler of the Pennsylvania League in 1941. Compiled a 14-7 record. Won 18, and lost 5, for the same club in 1942. Spent next 3 years in service. Returned to chalk up 19 wins, against 10 losses, for Augusta in 1946. With Newark, 1947. Up to Yanks at end of season. To Browns for 1948 campaign.



Hit .271 in 117 games for the 1950 St. Louis Browns. Drove in 55 runs. The Philadelphia Athletics sent Ray to the Buffalo Bisons for the 1949 campaign. He performed impressively in the International League, hitting .295 in 153 games, and driving 113 runs across the plate. He was responsible for 23 homers. His record at Buffalo amply justified his return to the majors.



Dick rejoined the Browns in '53 after missing the '51 and '52 seasons while serving in the Armed Forces. He joined the Browns in mid-season of '48, hitting 298 in 71 games. Dick hit .261 in both '49 and '50 and had a total of 41 Homers during those 2 seasons. He broke in with a .321 mark at Batavia in '45. For the same club in '46, Dick hit .344. The Browns called him up after a .324 season at Wilkes-Barre and a .315 average at Toledo.

Dick rejoined the Browns in '53 after missing the '51 and '52 seasons while serving in the Armed Forces. He joined the Browns in mid-season of '48, hitting 298 in 71 games. Dick hit .261 in both '49 and '50 and had a total of 41 Homers during those 2 seasons. He broke in with a .321 mark at Batavia in '45. For the same club in '46, Dick hit .344. The Browns called him up after a .324 season at Wilkes-Barre and a .315 average at Toledo.
