Marlins Card of the Day

Jesus Sanchez
One of only two Marlins players to belt double-digit homers in each of the past three seasons, Jesus can beat opponents with more than just the longball. He snatched away a potential game-tying, ninth-inning grand slam with a leaping catch against Seattle last June 14. On August 2, Sanchez blooped a single to left field to walk off the Phillies, 9-8.

Name that player!

Abbott came off the disabled list with a flourish May 7 as he celebrated his return to the lineup by clobbering a 450-foot homer in each of his first two games back with the Marlins.

Juan was traded from the Reds to the Marlins on July 12, '02, then proceeded to set career highs in homers and RBI while tying his career best in hits. On September 24 at Montreal, he went 4-for-5 with two homers, 5 RBI and three runs scored. Juan hit three homers in the Southern League (AA) All-Star Game in '97, earning the game's MVP Award.

Surf-and-turf was on the menu for the Marlins in 2024. Instead of filet mignon, the fish preferred a healthy helping of Jake Burger. Burger, who joined the Club via trade the season before, belted dingers seemingly at will to fuel a lineup that also included up-and-coming hitters Jesús Sánchez and Connor Norby. Miami unleashed some big numbers on foes, like the 12 runs they scored at Colorado on 8/29.

Dontrelle Willis
Dontrelle's ever-present smile, huge leg kick and nasty stuff made him an instant darling of Baseball in 2003, as he stormed to NL Rookie of the Year honors with a 14-win effort. Two years later, the southpaw led the loop with 22 victories as the NL Cy Young Award runner-up.
