When Cal (who wears #29) homered on 7/13/22, it gave Seattle longballs from four successive uniform numbers in the same game. Adam Frazier (#26), Jesse Winker (#27) and Eugenio Suarez (#28) also went deep.
It had been a long time since baseball had seen a player of Griffey's magnitude. Combining the daring defensive exploits of Willie Mays, one of the sweetest left-handed strokes of all time and an infectious smile, the Hall of Famer took the league by storm to become one of its most popular players during the 1990s.
Bedard was sharp for the Mariners over his first five starts with his new club in 2008. From 3/31 to 5/7, the lefty posted a 1.99 earned run average, .172 batting average against and had 25 Ks in 31.2 innings.
