Rusty was selected as first baseman on the 1963 Topps Major League All-Rookie Team. His first major league homer was off Don Drysdale and brought a 2-1 victory to the Astros. Last year was Rusty's first full season in the majors and he showed good power and determination. Rusty can play first base as well as the outfield. Look for him to come on strong in 1966.
Arrighetti was in top form on Aug. 28, 2024, not allowing a knock until the bottom of the eighth while guiding Houston to a 10-0 win at Philadelphia. Yordan Alvarez, meanwhile, paced the offensive attack with a trio of taters. It marked the first time a player hit three home runs while his teammate carried a no-hitter through seven innings.
Joe has all the credentials to become one of the best second-sackers in the majors. He was the "Most Valuable Player" in the Texas League in 1964. Previously, in 1963, Joe was an All-Star when he played for Durham. Joe had a fine rookie season and is confident that he will escape the sophomore jinx in 1966.
