Red Sox Card of the Day

Jarren Duran
Mike Scioscia saw Duran's potential during his time with Team USA in the spring of 2021. "He's a five-tool player," he said. "When you call a guy a five-tool player you're saying that he's special. He's in an elite group. I think that Jarren has that that skill set that can make him an impact player very quickly in the [big] leagues."

Name that player!

New addition to the Boston Red Sox hill crew. Last year the 6' righty won 13 for the Senators and White Sox.

"Here's a player who seems to have found his proper place on the diamond. and he certainly is delivering the goods for the Red Sox. Last year Bill divided his time between third base and shortstop, but Bucky Harris has now stationed him at the hot corner. Bill was transferred from our club, the Yankees, last season, to the Red Sox. He batted .258, hit three home runs, and stole 15 bases. He is a right-hander, both in batting and throwing, five feet, 11 inches tall, and weighs around 160 pounds. He is a college man, having attended Duke University."

Fred is working with the Red Sox farm team at Louisville in an attempt to work his way back to the Big Leagues. The righthander began pitching in pro ball in 1960. In his sophomore season, Fred compiled a sensational 15-1 record as he struck out 132 in 108 innings.

Regarded as the greatest center-fielder in the game, he set the American League record for Putouts with 503 in 1948. He led the League in Runs in 1950 and 1951. Dom broke in with the Red Sox in 1940 and has been their regular center-fielder since, except for 3 years, when he served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy.
