Tony Oliva
The parameters of the strike zone were merely a suggestion to Oliva, who was happy to flick his bat at anything and everything within reach. That approach would have led to soaring whiff totals for many, but not the Minnesota mainstay. Instead, he swung his way to a trio of league batting titles and retired with a lifetime average of .304.

Ron's five saves and 8 wins made him one of the AL's top firemen in 1968. He led the N.L. in games pitched 3 times while toiling for the Dodgers.



Hampered by a serious knee injury last year, Bernie will be battling to win back his No. 1 role at second base this season. Bernie has one of the quickest pair of hands in the league and is acknowledged to be one of the best double-play men in the majors. In high school, Bernie was an All-American in basketball.



The big righthander led The Twins with 13 complete games and five shutouts in '65. As an Indian, Jim had beaten The Twins 22 times!
