The "Big O" was the overwhelming selection as the NBA's Rookie of the Year for 1960-61. He was even more brilliant in his first year with the Royals than he had been as a three-time college Player of the Year and All-American with the University of Cincinnati. He finished fourth in scoring with 2,165 points and was the leader in assists with 690.
