Petrovicky earned a contract with the Whalers after an impressive training camp in the fall of 1992. He joined Hartford after two campaigns with the Czechoslovakian National League's Dukla Trencin, where he was third on his team in scoring with 17-25-42 after 33 games last season.

Last season Poulin led the QMJHL in scoring for St. Hyacinthe and won the Jean Beliveau Trophy. Named a First Team All-Star by both the QMJHL and the Canadian Hockey League, he also scored 2-1-3 in the playoffs for Hartford and played in an AHL postseason game for Springfield.

Geoff Sanderson
A second-round draft pick of the Whalers in 1990, Geoff Sanderson joined Hartford for the end of the 1990-91 season and the Stanley Cup playoffs after completing his junior career with Swift Current (WHL). He led the Broncos in goals and was second on his team in points last season. Sanderson, who averaged better than a point per game in his WHL career, scored his first NHL goal in his first game with the Whalers last season.
