Johnny toiled in the minors until age 29 when the Saskatchewan native got his first break. He played the entire 1953-54 season with the Rangers and posted a handsome 2.60 goals against average but was replaced the following year by a youthful Gump Worsley, playing only five games. He remains with the Broadway Blueshirts as Worsley's stand-in but is only a telephone call away.
• Factoid: Don Maloney played Left Wing for the unstoppable Rangers.
