Lions Card of the Day

Bill Triplett

Bill was originally drafted by the Giants in 1962 but was traded to the Cardinals when New York needed some quarterback help. Strong and fast, Bill returned 24 kick-offs for 608 yards in 1962. Always a threat to break loose!

Bill's brother was a fullback for the Giants and Vikings.

Coffee Talk
Name that player!

It's one thing not to be able to tackle him, but many times they couldn't even put a hand on him. Untouchable in the most literal of terms, Sanders was so quick, shifty and smooth that would-be tacklers stood no chance. The Lions legend put all his best traits on display to score 16 times on play...

Who is it?

Bobby was well on his way to another superb season in 1957, when he had a leg broken at the end of the campaign. The injury forced him out of the Lions' final contests. Still, he helped get them in a contending position all season.

Who is it?

An elusive end, Jim was the top pass-catcher for the champion Lions last season. One of his catches went all the way for a 65-yard TD. He can either buttonhook back for a quick pass or flare out long for payoff pitches.

Back to the Front! Lions card back du jour...

Jack Christiansen

Jack is the unofficial captain of the Lions' defending halfbacks, as his standing as top man in interceptions last year will attest. Jack, who was a track star when he attended Colorado A&M, is one of the fastest men in the league.
