Oilers Card of the Day

George Blanda

George has performed like a super-star every year that he has been in the American Football League. His strong, accurate arm has guided the Oilers to three division and two league titles in four years. He set an A.F.L. mark in 1961 when he passed for 3,340 yards, including 36 touchdown tosses. He is a double threat as a kicker, considered by many as the finest at getting the extra point.

Tied for Oilers' lead in forced fumbles and 2nd in interceptions last season ...Led defensive backs in tackles for 4th consecutive season...Returned interception 58 yards for TD against Bills (1/3) in playoffs.

Lathon spent the early part of his rookie season on the injured reserve. By season's end he claimed a starting role with the Oiler defense. On the first play of the second Pittsburgh game he forced a key fumble. Because of an automobile accident, Lamar missed most of his senior year at Houston.

The fleet-footed defensive star was obtained from the San Diego Chargers. Miller averaged 22.7 yards per interception last season. He can also perform as an offensive halfback if he is needed.
